Chris Ractliffe Equestrian and Barn Owner

Chris Ractliffe

Owner

Chris founded CCR in 2018, transforming a once-derelict dairy farm into the impressive venue it is today. Sadly, the grand opening coincided with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, forcing an unexpected and difficult closure on day one.

As the father of Charlotte, CCR’s manager, Chris worked closely with her to bring their shared vision to life. From designing the layout to making hands-on contributions, CCR is truly a family-built project.

Chris’s dedication is second to none—whether it’s poo picking the arenas, planting over 3,000 vibrant red geraniums, or continually enhancing the venue, his commitment shines through in every detail. His latest project, the CCR Barn, is set to launch in 2025, and he’s just as excited about it as we hope you will be.

Whether you’re reaching out via social media, email, or phone with questions about bookings, events, horse sales, or general enquiries—Charlotte is your go-to contact and is always happy to help.

As a British Showjumping accredited trainer and qualified course designer, John offers lessons for riders of all abilities, both here at CCR and away at other venues. His coaching focuses on building confidence, correct foundations, and producing happy, competitive partnerships between horse and rider.

Alongside his work with the team, John also runs JB Academy, delivering a structured yearly training programme designed to support riders in reaching their goals through consistent coaching and development. His knowledge, professionalism, and dedication to the sport make him a hugely respected member of the team.

Rachel Rowe CCR Equestrian and Barn Equine Water Treadmill Gloucester

Rachel Rowe

Water Treadmill & Yard Operations

Rachel joined our team after completing a degree in Equine Performance and Rehabilitation at Hartpury University, bringing both academic knowledge and hands-on experience operating water treadmills. Her First-Class dissertation explored the motivators and barriers to equine water treadmill use, reflecting her passion for evidence-based rehabilitation and equine welfare.

Rachel plays a key role in running the water treadmill and supporting rehabilitation programmes for horses recovering from injury or improving fitness, strength, and muscle tone.

Rachel is also involved in the day-to-day running of the yard, assists with the breeding programme, and helps at our onsite showjumping events. Thanks to her support, we’re able to offer evening and weekend sessions, and we’re proud to have her as part of the team.
